Praying for Pastors and confidential requestsEither 10.15am Monday morning or 7.00pm Monday evening Oasis Youth & Community Centre We have been on the go for about eighteen years and came into being after Pastor Hannam, at a time when he was the only minister, read a book urging Church leaders to have a prayer support group. Our original function was to pray for Pastor Hannam's ministry and family and for confidential requests. We were jokingly known as the "secret service" and had a low profile. Lately our role has become more widely known and less clearly defined. We now receive requests from several sources.
Membership of the group is subject to the approval of the pastors who look for people who are committed to the Church and can keep confidences. Our meetings begin with a cuppa and discussion of the requests we have received (and other things!), followed by bible reading, praise, worship and prayer. We have seen answers to prayer over the weeks and years and get much support and encouragement by meeting together.
There are currently fourteen people in the group. Several of us are "getting on a bit". We could do with some new members who will bring fresh vision and excitement about our prayer-answering God.
